Med Marine and SAAM Guatemala signed a contract for a MED-A2360 series tugboat for the towage company’s Puerto Quetzal operations on May 2019 and the vessel sailed to Guatemala on July 2019. Having sailed from Ereğli Shipyard to Puerto Quetzal, 23m ASD tugboat SAAM Itza’s inauguration ceremony was held in Guatemala on 12th of December.
Local authorities and guests from both companies attended the ceremony. Melis Üçüncü, Med Marine’s Sales Manager, said that it was a really successful delivery and SAAM Itza is a great fit for SAAM Guatemala’s fleet.
The general manager of SAAM Towage in Guatemala, Harry Nadle, pointed out that "the high-powered and manoeuvrable ship was delivered by Med Marine and is ready to begin its operations at Puerto Quetzal and Puerto San Jose terminals ".
Her sister, Tareef 1, sailed to Dubai to join Abu Dhabi Ports’ fleet last month.
SAAM Itza is a Ramparts 2300-MM tugboat, an exclusive design for Med Marine. RAmparts 2300-MM is versatile, multi-purpose, compact ASD design, which features efficient ship-handling, coastal towing, escort, general purpose duties and fire fighting capabilities.
